The New York women's basketball team has successfully defended their Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament trophy by defeating The College of New Rochelle by a score of 56-41. The Knights have competed in the tournament, hosted by Medgar Evers College, for two consecutive years and in both cases have won the tournament.

The Knights were led by junior forward Milan Germany (Notre Dame Prep/Bronx, NY), who was named Tournament MVP. Germany scored 26 points while grabbing 18 rebounds over the course of the two games. Senior guard Aiyesha Brown (John Adams/Jamaica, NY) dropped 34 points over the two games to earn All-Tournament honors.

The Knights managed 27 steals while only giving up 11 turnovers against CNR. The Knights also managed 30 steals in the first round in a 77-48 win over Yeshiva.

The Knights are now 3-2 on the season and return to action on Saturday, December 8, against Vassar College at 5 P.M.
