The Berkeley College New York women's soccer team defeated conference foe Yeshiva University 3-0 earlier today in their first game of the season.
It took less than 10 minutes for the Knights to get on the board when freshman forward Anna Folkesson (Johannes Hedbergskolan/Helsinborg, Sweden) stole the ball and scored from 18 yards out for a 1-0 lead at the 9:41 mark. The Knights would extend the lead on the first of two goals by sophomore forward Tiffanie Vargas (Environmental Studies/New York, NY) on an assist from sophomore defender Wendy Valladares (Christopher Colombo/Bronx, NY) at the 30:14 mark.
Vargas would capitalize again at the 53:16 mark off another Yeshiva turnover to put the game out of reach.
Freshman goalkeeper Kerryann Haughton and Folkesson would combine for the shutout.
The Knights face defending conference champion Albany Pharmacy tomorrow at 1:30 in Albany.
