The Berkeley College women’s basketball team
dominated the weekly Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference awards,
as Milan Germany was tabbed as Player of the Week, and Patricia Patterson was
chosen as the Rookie of the Week.
The Knights only played one game last week, but both of
the aforementioned student-athletes contributed in a big way as Berkeley College
turned back Medgar Evers by a score of 67-39 back on January 2 in Brooklyn, NY.
In that victory, Germany scored 20 points while grabbing nine rebounds, dishing
six assists, and tallying three steals. Patterson posted a double-double in the
win, netting 19 points and snatching 13 rebounds. Berkeley College Head Coach
Sharod Tomlinson was proud of his players’ achievements.
“Both of these student-athletes are very deserving of the
honors that were bestowed upon them this week,” Tomlinson said. “They did a
great job of setting the tempo of the game for us against Medgar Evers, and it
ultimately resulted in our team picking up a nice win. Milan and Patricia will
be key pieces to our puzzle down the stretch of this season.”
Berkeley College’s women’s basketball team will be
returning to action this weekend, as the Knights will travel to New Hampshire
to participate in the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year’s Tournament. Berkeley will
battle the University of Maine-Augusta on Saturday, January 11 at 2:00pm,
before playing in the championship or consolation round of the tournament the
following day against either NHTI or Massasoit C.C.
