NY WINS TWO IN A ROW

The Berkeley College New York men's basketball (#14 USCAA) snapped their two-game losing streak with an impressive 63-52 victory over #2 ranked Williamson Free School at the Prestall Sports Center in Media, PA, to improve to 4-4 on the season and then followed it up with another Hudson Valley Conference win over Culinary Institute to improve to 5-4 on the season.

Williamson (11-2), fresh off their victory last Wednesday against top-ranked Central Penn, ran into a buzzsaw as the Knights opened the game by scoring the first s
even points and never looked back. Berkeley would lead by fourteen at halftime 37-23 before Williamson would make a mild second-half run to slice the lead in half. But in a game in which they never trailed, Berkeley would respond time after time again to keep Williamson at bay and preserve a much-needed conference victory. Senior guard Jose Stable (Brooklyn, NY/EBC High School for Public Service) led all scorers with 20 points with fellow senior guard Kaseem Williams (Brooklyn, NY/Boys & Girls) adding 16 points.

The team completed the weekend sweep by defeating the visiting Steels of Culinary Institute by a final score of 105-53. Berkeley College started the game on a 39-13 run to open up a twenty six-point lead; they would not look back from there. In the final six minutes of first-half play, they would increase their lead to ov
er thirty. The half time score was 50-19. The second half was more of the same with the final score 105-53.

The Knights were led by freshman guard Eddie Rosario’s (Colonial/New York, NY) 24 points, Kaseem William’s double-double (19 points, 10 assists) and Jose Stable’s 19 points. Junior guard Jovan Bovell (Jamaica/Jamaic, NY) added 11 points and five steals.

Berkeley College will next visit Medgar Evers College on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM.
