BERKELEY COLLEGE ANNOUNCES GARRET MOUNTAIN BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

The Berkeley College Garret Mountain campus men's basketball schedule was announced today and it includes several new opponents for the Berkeley Bulldogs.

"I am proud to say that we continue to improve our schedule year in and year out and this year is no exception," said Brian Maher, Athletic Director for Berkeley College. "We like to challenge our program and our students and there are plenty of top-ranked programs in the Northeast to compete against."

The Bulldogs will compete for the first time against Drew University, Rutgers-Camden, Maritime College, New Jersey City University, Rowan University, and Eastern Connecticut University to name a few.

"I love a challenge and Berkeley College consistently puts together one of the most difficult schedules every year," said first year head coach Dwight Wilbur. "This type of schedule not only attracts new players to the program, but also accelerates our learning curve."

In addition to the above, the Bulldogs will once again continue their rivalry with Montclair State University with two games scheduled against the Red Hawks as well as their annual participation in the Ramapo College Tip-Off Tournament.

The schedule is available on the Berkeley College web site at http://www.berkeleycollege.edu/athletics/mens/basketball-gmt.htm

KNIGHTS TIE WEBB; MAKE POSTSEASON

The Berkeley Knights men's soccer team once again came from behind, only this time their last-minute heroics saved their season.

Playing at Webb Institute on a cold and windy day on a soccer field that overlooks the Long Island Sound, the Knights took an early second half lead with a goal by Alexis Monceaux.

Webb answered with a goal of their own less than two minutes later to tie the score and then managed two more quick goals to take what appeared to be a commanding 3 to 1 lead.

With less than six minutes remaining in the game and with a berth in the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference playoffs on the line, the Knights managed to score twice to send the match into overtime with goals by Patrik Lundberg and Abdelaziz Elhag.

After two scoreless overtimes, the match was declared a tie due to darkness leaving Berkeley with a 1-2-1 record in the HVMAC and the fourth seed in the HVMAC postseason.

The Knights play Sunday, October 26, against the number one seed, Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park at 1 P.M.

BERKELEY BASKETBALL PROGRAMS SCRIMMAGE

The men's basketball teams from the New York City campus and the Garret Mountain campus took part in a preseason scrimmage on Friday, October 24, in what will hopefully become an annual tradition.

"It was a great opportunity for both programs and their respective coaching staffs to create some live game action before they open their regular season," said Brian Maher, Athletic Director for Berkeley College. "Nothing is more intense than when these two respective campuses compete against one another."

The Garret Mountain campus opens their season on Monday, November 3, at Passaic County Community College. The New York City campus opens their season on Thursday, November 6, in the Hudson Valley Men's Conference preseason tournament at Pratt Institute.

Led by forward Bryan Barrera, the Knights staged a rousing comeback with three unanswered goals in the second half to win their first game as a member of the Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference by a score of 3 to 2.
